DSI or HDMI?

Choose MIPI DSI for thin integrated products and lower BOM; choose HDMI for the fastest bring-up. HDMI driver boards add cost and thickness but need no device-tree work.

Frequently asked questions

Will my old Raspberry Pi DSI display work on Pi 5?

Electrically yes for most panels, but Pi 5 uses a 22-pin 0.5 mm connector instead of the older 15-pin 1 mm connector, so you need the correct adapter cable and an overlay for the panel.
